A Walk in the Woods
By Lee Blessing
Directed by C. Michael Wright
Nominated for the Tony Award, Pulitzer Prize and Olivier Award in 1988, A Walk In The Woods was written by Lee Blessing, the keynote speaker at last year's Madison New Play Festival, and author of Going to St. Ives, currently playing off-Broadway, Thief River, Cobb, and Two Rooms, among many others. Mr. Blessing was the recipient of a season dedicated to his work at off-Broadway's Signature Theatre. A Walk in the Woods, Blessing's best-known play, tells the story of two Cold War diplomats, Andrey Botvinnick and John Honeyman, who in the midst of the tension of endless, adversarial negotiation, decide to take a break, walk in the woods of Geneva, and talk together as men, rather than as statesmen. Favorite Milwaukee actor and director C. Michael Wright brings A Walk in the Woods to life at Promenade Hall in Overture Center for the Arts.
