Moon Over the Brewery
By Bruce Graham
Directed by Angela Iannone
A faded Pennsylvania mining town is the setting for the charming romantic comedy Moon Over the Brewery. Waitress and single mom Miriam struggles to make ends meet and raise her genius teenaged daughter, Amanda. By night Miriam goes out into the hills around the small town to paint moonscapes, nothing but moonscapes. She also quilts, and a beautiful hand-stitched quilt is the ticket out for her daughter, but only if the one riche person in town is willing to buy it. The lives of these two women are complicated with Miriam falls for the gentle and caring town mail carrier, Warren, and Amanda's friend Randolph shows up, eager to ruin the relationship and keep the family situation just the three of them. Amanda's struggle to leave her childhood behind and Miriam's to find a life that will allow Amanda to grow, is the center of this funny, touching and surprising play.
