Cavalleria Rusticana & I Pagliacci
Directed by Opera Verdi Europa
Enjoy a night at the Opera! In their first ever U.S. tour, Opera Verdi Europa brings culture and excitement to the Young Auditorium, in the finest European tradition. Established in 1996, Opera Verdi's roster of distinguished singers, its impressive choir, ballet and orchestra has obtained an interpretive maturity in many different styles. Opera Verdi presents Cavalleria Rusticana and I Pagliacci, which are traditionally performed as a double bill. Cavelleria Rusticana is the story of lost love, jealousy, and betrayal - themes that have made opera popular for centuries. The second opera, I Pagliacci, explores jealousy with the classic play within a play motif. Experience these full-scale operas performed in Italian with English 'supertitles' projected above the stage to translate every nuance in English. It's the perfect evening of opera for first-timers as well as a favorite for opera aficionados! "The audience was enchanted and touched by the performance. Opera is the most spectacular blend of the arts conceived by mankind. Once you're hooked on it your life is enriched." River Cities Reader
