This position is 8 hours per day, year round. Benefits include vacation time, paid time off and health/dental insurance offerings.

SUMMARY: Serve as the resident authority on the use and operation of all the in-house systems, including lighting, sound, video, staging, and computer systems, as well as available support service. The position reports to the Performing Arts Manager and works closely with the school district staff, community users, and touring companies to determine, coordinate and deliver high quality, customer-friendly technical support for all users. This may be accomplished with a stage crew consisting of students that are hired, trained and supervised by the Theater Technician.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may
be assigned.
Serve as technical contact for all of the events presented in the Performing Arts Center and Cardinal Heights Theater by providing high quality technical support including obtaining equipment and services to fulfill contractual obligations.
Provide leadership and guidance for non-professional groups using the facilities regarding all their technical needs.
Design, set up and operate lighting and sound systems for theater, dance, music, and other productions and projects as needed.
Recruit, train and lead a stage and technical crew consisting of Sun Prairie High School students.
Supervise and assist with set and stage construction and management.
Maintain inventory and order specialized supplies.
Monitor the condition of equipment including lighting, sound, communication, and rigging equipment; arrange for the repair and replacement within budgetary constraints; perform preventive maintenance on equipment.
Develop long range planning needs for the equipment and infrastructure of the facility. Make recommendations regarding capital purchases of technical equipment.
Complete special projects related to the performing arts facilities and programs as assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Two-year or four-year degree (desired) in theatre/performing arts or a related field. One or more years of experience in technical theater. Must have a working knowledge of techniques, methods and procedures of theatre, dance, and music productions and presentations including stage, set, sound and lighting design and implementation; stage management; computerized lighting systems; stage carpentry; appropriate safety precautions and procedures.

COMMUNICATION AND LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, government regulations, and legal documents. Ability to develop positive relationships and effectively present information to students, administrators, parents, community, and School Board. Ability to work effectively with staff, students, parents, and community members.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to work effectively with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals or plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

ANALYTICAL AND REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical and diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Demonstrated skill in written and verbal communications. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Effective organizational skills. Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in a specific field. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with students, staff, and the school community. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and School Board policies.

Children's Theater of Madison (CTM) seeks one or more Production Coordinators for our upcoming Summer Stage productions of the following shows:

About The Show & Summer Stage
CTM's production of the above shows is part of Summer Stage, CTM's summer educational day camp programming. Over the course of two weeks, students rehearse and perform the show, with performances in the Sunrise Theater (Black Box) at the Madison Youth Arts center (MYArts). Production elements are simple and intended to support the show's core story and the educational aspects of the programming.

Position Description
The Production Coordinator is responsible for pulling and providing basic costume accessories and props for the show, and leading the students in a hands-on project to create a basic scenic or prop element for the show. More details are below.

Student-Built Project: Students will design and construct a prop, scenic element, or costume piece for the production. This hands-on session, led by the Production Coordinator, will take place on the second Tuesday of the program from 10:00 to 11:30 AM.

Set & Props: The production will be staged at the Sunrise Theater, utilizing CTM-provided black furnishings (stools, benches, blocks) and soft goods for backdrops, wings, and crossovers. Props will primarily be sourced from CTM stock.

Costumes: Students will wear a base look from their own clothing. The Production Coordinator will provide accessories from CTM stock as available.

Compensation
$300 stipend per show.

Stage Manager for The Pigeon Gets A Big Holiday .. - (posted 4/8/25 by Children's Theater of Madison)

Children's Theater of Madison (CTM) seeks an experienced Stage Manager for our upcoming production of The Pigeon Gets A Big Holiday Extravaganza! CTM, an anchor partner at the Madison Youth Arts Center (MYArts) in Madison, WI, is one of the first theaters to produce this new musical, and seeks a Stage Manager to lead the stage management team in bringing the show to life. This new holiday-themed show is based on the Pigeon book series by Mo Willems. Madison-area locals or those able to work as such are preferred for this role. Please note that this is a non-Equity stage management position.

Prep: October 20-24, 2025
First Rehearsal: October 27, 2025
Rehearsals will be Monday - Friday evenings until tech.
Spacing, Tech, & Dress Rehearsals: November 21-28, 2025
Opening: November 29, 2025
Closing: December 21, 2025
NOTE: This show has a significant number of student matinee performances during weekday mornings and afternoons; availability for daytime performances is required during the show's run. Please see below for the full tentative performance schedule.

Compensation
$600 per week for 9 contract weeks, for a total gross pay of $5,400 (paid as a W-2 employee).

Essential Duties
Create and distribute daily rehearsal schedules and reports, production meeting notes, and performance reports.
Handle script preparation, distribution, and collection as needed.
Prepare the rehearsal space prior to the beginning of rehearsals as needed, including taping out the floor, ensuring rehearsal supplies are ready, etc.
Record director's blocking and assist actors with blocking as needed. Take line notes when actors are off book and prompt actors as needed.
Develop, update, and distribute running paperwork including preset checklists and running order lists/run sheets.
Create the calling script, to include all technical cues (deck, fly, lighting, sound, effects, etc.) in advance of the first technical rehearsal.
Lead and coordinate all shift, technical, and dress rehearsals in collaboration with the director and other members of the production team.
Operate lighting and sound through QLab and call deck, fly, and other cues as needed during the run of the show.
Oversee the day-to-day activities of the Assistant Stage Manager and run crew members.

Mandatory Qualifications
Ability to pass a basic background check. All CTM employees must pass a background check as CTM works with children extensively.
Professional experience as a Stage Manager, including show-calling experience.
