Bellydancing UW
Bellydancing UW was founded by a group of dedicated dance students from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the Spring of 2000 after taking introductory bellydance classes from Mona N'wal. Each semester, our organization welcomes 50-70 regular attendees to its Beginners' Class, where experienced club members cover basic technique synthesized into a choreography. Intermediate classes build on this foundation with a greater focus on complete dance pieces, many of which are performed at campus events and around the city of Madison. Layali Najam, the club's dance troupe, performs at a wide variety of venues and Middle Eastern Dance workshops throughout the Upper Midwest. Admission to the Intermediate classes and Layali Najam is by audition only with tryouts at the end of each semester. No dance experience is necessary for our beginner's lessons. Join us today!
