Set during the Persian Gulf War, Michael; an American journalist has been taken hostage by Arab terrorists. His only surroundings that he knows is an empty room with a floor mat. In the United States, his wife Lainie has cleared out a room of their house except for a floor mat so she can "symbolically" be with her husband. An ambitious reporter, Walker, urges Lainie to speak out against the government for their inaction to bring Michael home. A representative from the Department of Defense pressures Lainie to keep silent and leave foreign affairs to the government.
