The Mousetrap

Following a mysterious strangling in London, a blizzard traps a group of people in a newly established rural bed-and-breakfast. As events reveal secrets and the murderer strikes again, everyone becomes a suspect. Following the show's tradition, at intermission audience members indicate their guess at the culprit and those with correct answers may win a prize. Audience is also asked to swear not to reveal the murderer after they leave the theater. The Mousetrap opened in London in 1952 and is the longest continuously running show in history. Clever and witty, it is appropriate for families, though small children may not be able to follow the intricate plot.

Auditions

Auditions are Monday, June 29 and Tuesday, June 30 or by appointment with the director janlevinethal@gmail.com with invited callbacks TBA. Auditions are at the Sequoya branch of the Madison Public Library, 4340 Tokay Blvd, meeting room B. 6:00-8:45 PM (library closes at 9:00) on both days.

Rehearsals begin August 23 and are every Sunday through Thursday evening 7pm-10pm. Because The Mousetrap is an ensemble piece, almost everyone is called for almost every rehearsal. Please bring a list of conflicts to auditions. This is crucial to casting.

Auditioners will be asked to read from the script. Scripts are available at your local library for check-out, your you may e-mail the director janlevinethal@gmail.com for a copy. British accents requested but don't let the accent keep you from auditioning.

CAST
Mollie Ralston – Proprietor of Monkswell Manor and wife of Giles. Aged 20s-30s
Giles Ralston – Proprietor of Monkswell Manor and husband of Mollie. Aged 20s-30s
Christopher Wren – Aged 20s-30s, a big flirt characterized as having wild hair and ties, he loves art and literature.
Mrs Boyle – A critical older woman. Any age over 40.
Major Metcalf – Retired from the army. Any age over 40.
Miss Casewell – A strange, aloof, woman who lives abroad. Aged 20s-40s
Mr. Paravicini – A man of unknown provenance, who appears to be affecting an Italian accent and artificially aged with make-up. Any age.
Detective Sergeant Trotter – The detective who questions the proprietors and guests. Aged 20s-30s
