The Hunchback of Notre Dame
By Andrew Sharp
Directed by Andrew Sharp
A dramatic re-telling of the classic romance of Esmeralda, the beautiful gypsy girl, and Quasimodo, the deformed bell ringer of Notre Dame. This three act-presentation is based directly on the book by Victor Hugo, and includes the semi-comic playwright Pierre, the cruel and obsessive Dom Claude Frollo, the arrogant Captain Phoebus and the gang of thieves and charlatans who inhabit the Court of Miracles. Neither a horror story nor a Disney musical, the play re-tells the story of romance, passion and devotion that made it a classic for over 150 years. The cast and crew strive for an authentic "feel" for the show, with 40 actors and actresses, period costumes and empassioned performances. This will be the premier staging of this script, written by an author who has been involved in nearly 60 productions as a producer, director, actor or makeup designer.
