Tea
By Velina Hasu Houston
Directed by David Furumoto
A tragic suicide disrupts an insulated Japanese immigrant community in a small Kansas town. Velina Hasu Houston’s play TEA examines five different lives of Japanese-American women that became brides of US soldiers following WWII. As four women come together to clean the house of Himiko, she returns as a spirit to force the women to confront the tension in their lives so that she can move on from this world. Amusing stories of learning to adapt to the American way of life and gut-wrenching revelations bubble to the surface.
