Broom Street Theater is proud to announce "Sweet William."

The infield dirt turns to mud, and the diamond loses its shine, as the meanest major leaguer who ever wore spikes finally submits to an interview fifty years after his playing days.

What was Willie's part in baseball's most sordid sex scandal? What really happened to the team owner's missing daughter?

A rollicking tragicomedy told in flashback - a sordid tale of virtue and vice; sunshine fields and shadowy back rooms - where only the Grim Reaper can call the final out.

Auditions

Auditions will be held on the following days:

Auditions will be held on February 8 at 7pm and February 9 at 8pm. Auditions will be at the Wil-Mar Center, 953 Jenifer Street.

Auditions will consist of readings from the script, and possibly some improv exercises.

The roles:

Old Willie McSlide – Male. An unpleasant gentleman of advanced years.

Dorothy Fischer – Female. An award winning documentarian, 40 - 60, extremely knowledgable about baseball.

Gentleman Johnny Johnson – Male. A professional ballplayer and the idol of young, wholesome, Eisenhower-era America. He's young, athletic, and dazzlingly handsome.

Young Willie McSlide – Male. Also a professional ballplayer. Young, athletic, and not nearly as dazzlingly handsome as Gentleman Johnny.

Nightshade LaVixen – Female. Her name is Nightshade LaVixen. How much more obvious can I make it? Getting slightly too old and world-weary to be hanging around locker rooms.

Utility Infielders - Those cast as Utility Infielders will wear a lot of hats, and play a lot roles. Butlers, reporters, cops, umpires, nuns, sportscasters... Looking for performers who can show a vast range, and establish memorable characters in a brief appearance.
