Rock of Ages is a jukebox musical built around classic rock songs from the 1980s. The musical features hits from such bands as Styx, REO Speedwagon, Bon Jovi, Pat Benatar, and Twisted Sister.

General Information
Auditions will be Monday & Tuesday, November 13 & 14, 2017 – 7 pm to 10 pm at the Bartell Community Theatre, 113 East Mifflin Street, Madison, WI. If you can't attend either date, contact the producer (jim.chiolino@madisontheatreguild.org). Be prepared to stay the entire period.
Callbacks, if needed, will be Wednesday, November 15th, 7 pm to 10 pm, also at the Bartell.
You may audition for one or both shows. You will not be cast in both. MTG/OUT!Cast will cast you in only one of these two productions.
PRINCIPAL CHARACTERS (Rock of Ages):
There are several smaller parts, some of which do not require speaking. We encourage people from all identities and backgrounds to audition.
DREW An appealing, good-guy rocker with great, easy comedic timing, a boyish charm, vulnerability and a very strong rock tenor voice. Lead TenorSHERRIE A fresh faced, innocent Midwestern girl. Strong comedic timing, strong rock belt, good movement ability. Should be comfortable in revealing/skimpy clothing. Lead Mezzo-Soprano, Alto
LONNY The narrator of the piece, charming, mischievous, welcoming, vibrant personality. Strong, honest comedic timing/improv skills and strong rock vocals. Lead Tenor
DENNIS DUPREE Classic stoner type guy. Very strong comedic timing. A laid back, easy going dude real dude. Bari-tenor rock vocals. Supporting Baritone
STACEE JAXX/FATHER A sexy rock star. Self-important, confident, the ultimate bad boy. Great strong comedic timing and strong rock tenor voice. Supporting Tenor
JUSTICE/MOTHER Strong presence, an easy sensuality about her. Strong, soulful vocals and belt needed. Supporting Mezzo-Soprano, Alto
HERTZ KLINEMANN An attractive older German. Uptight, cold, intimidating businessman. The bad guy of the piece. Strong comedic timing and baritone vocals. Supporting Baritone
FRANZ KLINEMANN Hertz’s son, young German male. Shy, gentle with a big heart. Strong vocals and comedic timing. Supporting Tenor
REGINA/CANDI A fun, hippie type, earthy girl. Strong comedic timing, belt vocals and comfortable in revealing/skimpy clothing. Supporting Mezzo-Soprano, Alto
JA'KEITH/ENSEMBLE A strong character actor with good comedic timing, strong rock tenor and strong dance/movement ability. May also play MAYOR. Featured Tenor

ENSEMBLE Male and female singer/dancers. Must be comfortable in very skimpy/sexy clothing. Strong dancers proficient in jazz and modern, comedic ability and strong rock vocals. Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Baritone
Rehearsals for ROCK OF AGES will begin with a four-day music intensive the week of December 11, 2017 and will then pause for the holidays. Rehearsals resume Sunday, January 7, 2018 and will typically be Sundays from 5:00pm – 9:00pm and Mondays through Wednesdays from 6:15pm – 8:30pm at the MTG Firehouse, 2410 Monroe Street, Madison. For ROCK OF AGES, please prepare up to 32 bars up-tempo rock. For WORKING, please prepare up to 32 bars traditional musical theater ballad. Prepare both pieces if you plan to audition for both shows. Bring sheet music for accompanist. Background tracks and acapella will not be permitted. Actors will be asked to memorize and perform group dance choreography, and read a short selection from the script. These selections (sides) will be provided at the auditions. Dress to move. Be prepared to list your scheduling conflicts.
Casting Decisions: Casting decisions will be made as soon as possible. Please be patient. We will contact everyone by phone or e-mail. In addition, the cast lists will be posted on the Madison Theatre Guild website shortly after people are notified.
