Readings of Seven Short Plays

The plays are "Such Things Only Happen in Books", "Fanny Otcott", "And the Sea shall give up its Dead", "Now the Servant's Name was Malchus", "The Angel That Troubled the Waters", "Bernice", and Pullman Car Hiawatha".

Readers are Duane Campbell, Sarah Krahn, Ashton LaReau, Patrick Mahoney, and Lynn and Richard Scoby.

In addition to his three well-known plays -- Our Town, The Skin of Our Teeth, and The Merchant of Yonkers (revised as Hello, Dolly) -- Thornton Wilder wrote some 38 short plays, many of them only three pages long. Some are investigations of a single idea, and some are experiments in staging that were later incorporated into his full-length works. Come and enjoy some of the early works of the playwright born in Madison who won three Pulitzer Prizes and whose work "is performed at least once each day somewhere in this country."
