Character Information:
ROBERT: (age around 40 to 60’s) Robert was once very prominent but has become worn with age and illness. He is not a slob but he never really paid attention to fashion. Once a brilliant mathematician, he has been brought down by mental illness. He loves his daughters and his work but his illness took away his ability to be continuously great at either. He has bouts of genius in both parenthood and math but they are fleeting.
CATHERINE: (late teens to early 30’s) Robert’s youngest child, she is only 25 but has spent much of her life taking care of her father. She inherited much of her father’s mathematic abilities, which she has never really been able to further. She is also worried about possibly inheriting her father’s mental illness. She is not talkative but can be charming if she wants to be. She could be quite attractive but she doesn’t pay much attention to her looks. Catherine tends to be quite manic after her father’s death which could be grief or mental instability.
CLAIRE: (mid 20’s-early 30’s) Catherine’s older sister is 29 and is rather the opposite of her sister. Appearances are very important to Claire. She is extremely put together in everything, personal life, work, fashion, living. She wants everything in her life to be very neat and clean, which after her father’s death, includes her sister. She is a successful financial professional, but doesn’t have her father’s or sister’s mathematic genius and she knows it. She makes a lot of assumptions about other people and their lives but she truly loves her sister and wants the best for her.
HAL: (mid 20’s to mid 30’s) Hal is a 28 year old, former student of Robert’s. He idolized Robert and while he is a talented mathematician but not in the same league as Catherine or her father. He is a nice looking, put together guy but bit of a geek, which he embraces. He has a quirky charm that somehow connects with Catherine’s personality. He should be a young, healthy contrast to that of Robert.
