Our Tomorrow
By p. m. strain
Directed by Patrick Strain
Soon after they were married on 4 July 1942, Arlen and Muriel found themselves embarking on separate lives; he to the Pacific, she to parenthood. As the months pass by, they find that the only means they have to build their relationship is the letters they exchange, two maps inscribed with the titles of music they love, and the dream they share that one day they will be together.
This two person show, originally commissioned by the Commonweal Theatre Company and based on the real life story of a couple from Lanesboro, MN, reminds us that the greatest attribute of the World War II generation is commitment. Filled with music and memories, laughter and tears, this story is sure to resonate with veterans and their families, regardless of their age, and be an inspiration to us all.
