Based on the classic feminist novel by Virginia Woolf, Sarah Ruhl’s contemporary adaptation of Orlando is a lyrical and highly theatrical tale about the life of poet Orlando as they strive to find true love and authentic artistic expression amidst shifting tides of history, cultural norms, and gender roles and expectations. As Orlando seeks real love and to write the perfect poem, they travel the world, through time, changing from man to woman, in a profound, moving, and funny story described as the most charming love letter in literature.Department of Theatre and Drama faculty member Ann M. Shanahan directs Allie Armstrong, Mick Caldwell, Amelia Eichmeier, Clara Feng, Rishi Lulla, Chloe Maier, Natalie Matthai, Alethea Quick, Sophia Schmidt, Warren Stern, A.J. Stoffels, and Byron Yanzapanta.
Rachel Reicherd is the assistant director, Audrey Lauren Standish is the intimacy director, Whitney Derendinger is the fight director, Juliana Gessner is the scenic designer, Aly Amidei is the costume designer, assisted by Nora Wondra, Brandon Wardell is the lighting designer, assisted by Leo Wang, Isabel White is the sound designer, Rob Wagner is the technical director and props director and Jahana Azodi is the stage manager, assisted by Saumya Sachdeva.
