On the Verge or The Geography of Yearning
By Eric Overmyer
Directed by Lauren Love
Three Victorian lady adventurers trek into Terra Incognita and discover they are moving forward in time. This funny, feminist jaunt invites us to look at material culture, women's lives, colonialism and the making of history with wonder, intelligence and humor as it holds a mirror up to the West's traditional urge to discover and ultimately get control of all it surveys. At the same time, the innocent wonder at the heart of our impulse to keep discovering is celebrated.
