On Golden Pond
By Ernest Thompson
Directed by Rolland Roebuck
This is the funny & warmly perceptive story of Ethel and Norman Thayer, a spirited and lovable elderly couple. While at their summer home on Golden Pond for the 44th year, they are visited by their divorced daughter & her dentist fiancé, who then go to Europe, leaving his teenage son behind for the summer. The boy quickly becomes the grandson they have always wanted. Norman teaches him about fishing and good books; in exchange, the boy gives him lessons in what it’s like to be a teenager, and the meaning of the term “sucking face.” A funny yet touching look at a couple facing their twilight years and realizing how precious their time together has been and will continue to be.
