Oliver
Music, Lyrics and Book by Lionel Bart
Directed by Mickey Reynolds
Set in England in the 1830’s Oliver! is the musical adaptation of Charles Dickens’ novel Oliver Twist. Oliver is an orphan who runs away to London and falls in with a gang of pickpockets led by Fagin. The story follows Oliver’s adventures as he is caught by a pickpocket victim and eventually learns of his lineage. The Artful Dodger, Nancy, Bill Sikes, and many other colorful characters bring this story to life as some of musical theatre’s best numbers are performed. “You’ve Got to Pick a Pocket or Two”, “Reviewing The Situation”, and “Consider Yourself”, are just a few of the many familiar songs from this production. While there are some adult situations, “Oliver!” is considerably more upbeat that Dickens’ original work, and promises to be a great amount of fun for cast members and audiences of all ages.
