Martha Graham: In Her Footsteps
Directed by Lisa Thurrell and Robert Cleary
Grace, hope, beauty, tenderness: uplifting human cornerstones for expanding above the shadows of war…
In homage to the founder, we present selections from Martha Graham’s iconic Appalachian Spring, danced to Aaron Copeland’s uplifting music. Debuted at the height of WW II, it is an American dance of grace and expansive hope.
Miki Orihara, Principal Dancer with the Martha Graham Dance Company will perform a solo from her recent concert ‘Resonance' that premiered at LaMama, NYC.
Lisa Thurrell’s powerful ‘Miserere’ (Have Mercy), International Bonnie Bird Choreography Award nominee, reveals humankind’s struggle to reach the divine. Robert E. Cleary premieres homage; and Kanopy will perform NYC choreographer Stanley Love’s ‘Bonewash.’
