MAGIC TIME
By James Sherman
Directed by Joel Sass
James Sherman's MAGIC TIME is a hilarious dressing room confessional about what actors really talk about when the audience isn't watching. In regional theatre, the play is not just a thing, but often the ONLY thing. MAGIC TIME examines the lives of the actors on the last night of their production of HAMLET. The actor playing Hamlet can't seem to be himself. Ophelia has fallen deeply for Hamlet, but the relationship probably won't last. Laertes is sulking in the corner. Claudius meditates while his bored wife Gertrude longs for excitement. The stage manager is looking to give everyone notes and Polonius and Horatio are looking for their chance to make it big. MAGIC TIME has enough inside jokes about theatre to make anyone that has ever worked on a show giggle and will have everyone laughing in their seats.
