“Lovers” tells the story of middle-aged and married, overworked and overweight, Barney Cashman. Barney wants to join the sexual revolution before it's too late! He decides to have an affair, just one afternoon of romance and the he will return to his “nice” life. Knowing that his mother's apartment is empty on certain days, three times he lures a totally different type of woman there and attempts to seduce her. The first, Elaine Navazio-a tough foul-mouthed New Yorker, proves to be totally non-romantic; next is Bobbi Michele, a 20-ish beautiful actress and night club singer who’s looking for her big break; finally comes September and Jeanette Fisher, a gloomy, depressed housewife who happens to be married to Barney's best friend!
