Kanopy Dance: Sunlight for Shorter Days
Directed by Lisa Thurrell and Robert Cleary
A program of sunlight for shorter days, in six works:
· Lisa Thurrell’s “Yggdrasil,” a romantic take on the Norse “Tree of Life”;
· Yuko Sakata's "If, on the other hand," set to Arvo Pärt's “Fratres”;
· Kerry Parker’s “Sofia” inspired by the mystic Sofia’s ‘shining light’;
· Juan Carlos Diaz Velez’ “…de planta, punta y tacón,” a blend of modern and flamenco;
·"The Dove" by guest artist Sandra Kaufmann
· Special treat: Kanopy will dance an excerpt from Martha Graham’s iconic “Appalachian Spring,” a distinctly American dance of grace and expansive hope.
