Heroes
By Gerald Sibleyras, adapted and translated by Tom Stoppard
Directed by Adam Fogelson
Heroes is set in August 1959 France on a terrace of a convent hospital for retired military men. Gustave, Philippe and Henri are three World War I heroes plotting an escape to Indochina, or at least to a picnic under the poplars on a nearby hill. These once vibrant and virile war heroes struggle with the reality of being young at heart while subject to life’s new aches and pains. Winner of London's prestigious Olivier Award for Best New Comedy, Tom Stoppard's adaptation of this French play is playful, bawdy, and heartbreakingly funny.
