FAME, the Musical
Book by Jose Fernandez, Lyrics by Jacques Levy, Music by Steve Margoshes
Directed by Edie Baran
FAME, the Musical is a comedy-drama in song and dance based on the Academy Award-winning movie and the Emmy Award-winning TV series. Set in New York City's legendary High School for Performing Arts, this high-energy musical takes the audience through the highs, the lows, and the romances of the star-struck pupils in their quest for success. The characters in FAME, the Musical are aware of FAME, the movie: Miss Sherman, one of the teachers, announces to the incoming, "If you believe you're gonna live forever or envision dancing on tops of cars down 46th Street, you are humming the wrong tune!"
Driven by the compulsion for fame, these young actors, dancers, and musicians from diverse backgrounds experience common triumphs and tragedies along their journey from audition to graduation. Conceived and developed by David De Silva, FAME, the Musical is a world-wide phenomenon and has been labeled "the most inspirational musical of all time."
