Escanaba in Love
By Jeff Daniels
Directed by Charles "Skip" Grover
Gather the gang and get ready for some Yooper laughs as we revisit the Soady deer camp in Escanaba in Love, the prequel to the hilarious Escanaba in da Moonlight. This round of north woods antics takes place during World War II as eighteen-year-old Albert Soady, Jr. spends his last deer hunting season in camp before becoming a sharpshooter for the U.S. Army. The legendary Big Betty Balou, future mother to Rueben and Remnar, shakes things up as she steals young Albert's heart. Find out if Big Bett Balou can convince Albert Sr. and great grandpa Alphonse she has what it takes to be a Soady in this north woods frolic. UW-W emeritus, Tom Colwin, who played Albert in the 2004 production of Escanaba in da Moonlight, also directed by Charles "Skip" Grover, returns to the stage as the family patriarch, Alphonse Soady.
