Crumbs from the Table of Joy
By Lynn Nottage
Directed by Guest Director: Woodie King Jr.
Lynn Nottage, the award-winning author of such plays as 'Intimate Apparel' and 'Fabulation,' continues her tradition of thoughtful, touching and funny plays with 'Crumbs from the Table of Joy.' It's 1950 and Godfrey Crump has just lost his wife. Finding solace in Father Divine and the Peace Mission Movement, he pulls up stakes and moves his teenage daughters to Brooklyn. Told through the eyes of his 17-year-old dauighter Ernestine, 'Crumbs from the Table of Joy' aims stright at the heart in a story that deals with boundaries of race, gender, and society.
