"Brigadoon"

“Brigadoon” is a charming Lerner and Loewe musical about a little village in Scotland. Their minister was concerned about the world changing the character of the people in the village, so he thought about how to save them and prayed for a miracle. The result of his faith was to keep the town out of any one century. When they go to bed at night, they wake up one hundred years later. Each day is one hundred years after the day before.

The people of the village are living in the eighteenth century, somewhere around 1745. The story opens in Scotland around 1950 with two young men from New York out in the middle of nowhere. They came to hunt, but not being very good hunters they simply got lost. As they examine the map to discover they are not near any towns, one appears out of the mist. The whole play takes place on one day in Brigadoon – one very special day.
